Working for an international engineering business, we are seeking an experienced Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager to lead, manage and develop their procurement function. You will be from an engineering / automotive background, this is a hands on role where the seasonal nature of the business requires effective forward planning. There will be some international travel, ideally you will have experience of working with suppliers based in the Far East, as well as Europe. This is a great opportunity to join a market leading business.

Key Responsibilities

As Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager - Engineering, your job role would include:

  • Manage key supply relationships to ensure maximum value
  • Negotiate competitive pricing on all items purchased
  • Drive growth through effective forecasting, supply and demand planning
  • Work with key suppliers to ensure all seasonal demands are delivered on time
  • Investigate and implement purchasing initiatives to reduce stock levels whilst maintaining availability
  • Aiding in the development of new suppliers, particularly in the Far East and China
  • Work with technical directors to introduce new products and technologies
  • Managing the end to end process of procurement through to delivery
  • Reduce unclassified suppliers
  • Sales order processing
  • Stock control and management

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager - Engineering position will have:

  • Strong financial business acumen
  • Exposure to emerging markets and a good understanding of the engineering industry
  • Able to plan, organise and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Highly motivated, committed to delivering results
  • Excellent at problems solving with good planning and maths skills
  • Flexibility to travel and stay away from home as required
  • Experience in an Engineering environment
  • Proficient in MS Office and operating systems
