HAE Look to Ensure Safety in Tool Hire Jobs

People working in tool hire jobs have an important role to play in protecting their own safety around sharp or heavy equipment, and also ensuring the safety of their customers when renting out tools and machinery.

At this month’s Executive Hire Show 2017 at the Ricoh Arena, Hire Association Europe (HAE) were on hand to host a series of workshops dedicated to the subject of tool hire safety and aimed at companies operating within the sector.

The organisation launched its SafeHire certification standard last summer, with some of the biggest names in tool hire among the first to qualify – and it is due to become a mandatory requirement for HAE membership from the start of 2018.

Other organisations contributed towards the creation of the certification standard, including the Health & Safety Executive and the Event Supplier and Services Association.

At EHS 2017 the Safe Hire Information Zone allowed those in attendance to learn more about some of the key safety issues faced by firms operating in the tool hire sector.

Several companies scheduled an audit as an immediate response to what they learned, and the standard, as well as the safety concerns it represents, are together an opportunity for firms and individuals working in tool hire jobs alike to do more for their own protection, and the safety of colleagues and customers.
